Formulations and Dosing

CellCept is available as four formulations:

  • CellCept (mycophenolate mofetil) Capsules (250 mg)
  • CellCept (mycophenolate mofetil) Tablets (500 mg)
  • CellCept Oral Suspension (mycophenolate mofetil for oral suspension) (225 mL)
  • CellCept Intravenous (mycophenolate mofetil hydrochloride for injection) (20 mL)

CellCept Intravenous should be administered within 24 hours following transplantation and can be administered for up to 14 days. However, patients should be switched to oral CellCept as soon as they can tolerate oral medication.1

Oral CellCept may be taken with or without food in stable renal transplant patients, providing greater convenience in dose scheduling for renal transplant patients.1 However, administration on an empty stomach is recommended.

CellCept Oral Suspension is useful for patients who cannot or do not want to swallow tablets or capsules.

CellCept Intravenous is an important option for patients who are unable to swallow (can be administered for up to 14 days).

Recommended dose for adult renal transplant patients: 1 g CellCept given orally or intravenously twice a day (intravenous doses should be administered over a period of no less than 2 hours).1

CellCept has established dosing in pediatric renal transplant patients: 600 mg/m2 oral suspension administered twice a day (up to a maximum daily dose of 2 g/10 mL CellCept oral suspension).1

Recommended dose for adult cardiac transplant patients: 1.5 g CellCept given orally or intravenously twice a day (intravenous doses should be administered over a period of no less than 2 hours).1

Recommended dose for adult hepatic transplant patients: 1 g CellCept given intravenously or 1.5 g CellCept given orally twice a day (intravenous doses should be administered over a period of no less than 2 hours).1
